Here at Folks Operetta we want to express our solidarity with Black Lives Matter.
Over the past fifteen years we have been proud to have worked with a diverse group of performers, production crew, designers, and orchestra musicians, in many wonderful productions. However, we realize that more can be done. We will always remain committed to engaging artists including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), women, and artists from the LGBTQIA communities. We will continue to strive for inclusive casting and employment so that our productions represent the members of the greater Chicago community and the world in which we live.
As a company that focuses on the work of Jewish artists who were persecuted during the Nazi era, we are constantly aware of the horrors of injustice and violence. We recognize that no two situations are exactly alike, but we are dedicated to fighting racism wherever it occurs. It is our job to work against it. Unequal treatment is a violation of human rights and no one should have to live in fear. We will always stand on the side of social justice.
